Gotta Digg

Posted on Monday, December 24, 2007 @ 06:37 CST by Daniel Andrlik

I just have to share this hilarious video that I found via Techcrunch. It’s a song, written and performed by Kina Grannis about a certain social news site that I have a love/hate relationship with (although that’s a subject for another post). It’s titled, “Gotta Digg,” and it’s actually really great.

In other news, I’m heading to Iowa over the holidays to see family and friends so I probably won’t be posting/bookmarking nearly as much. Have a wonderful holiday!

Watchmen: Stan Lee Style

Posted on Tuesday, September 5, 2006 @ 08:39 CDT by Daniel Andrlik

Via Boing Boing:

Just a quick post, but if you are at all into comics you will get a kick out of blogger Kevin Church’s hilarious reimagining of Alan Moore’s Watchmen as if it was written by Stan Lee. It really captures the over-the-top ridiculousness of Lee’s style, which fills me with nostalgia even as I recognize how terrible it really is.

Read the parody here.

Bored? Try Batting A Penguin.

Posted on Tuesday, August 29, 2006 @ 21:52 CDT by Daniel Andrlik

This is kind of an old game, but if you ever find yourself bored try playing a game of Yeti Pingu-Throw. It’s an addictive little game in which you play a yeti, who repeatedly bats a penguin off into the horizon to see how far you can get the little critter’s head to fly. You can increase the distance by trying to bounce the penguin’s head off of land mines.

I was turned onto this game by Chris, and it is really addictive in a silly way. The highest score I’ve managed to get is 1179.5, and hopefully I can be content with that because I am wasting way too much time fiddling with this damn game.

What’s your best score?

P.S. As a Linux user, I do feel somewhat guilty for engaging in the virtual abuse of penguins, so I like to think of them as penguin defectors.:-)

Quick Post: Daily Show Covers Congressional Hearings On Violent Video Games

Posted on Tuesday, June 27, 2006 @ 22:35 CDT by Daniel Andrlik

This is absolutely hilarious. Funny enough to make me break my personal rule about embedding video in blog posts.:-)

I’ll be back to regular blogging soon, I promise.

Colbert Performs At White House Correspondent Dinner

Posted on Monday, May 1, 2006 @ 23:20 CDT by Daniel Andrlik

If you haven’t heard about Stephen Colbert’s scathing performance at the Annual Correspondent’s Dinner, I’m not surprised. As near as I can tell, the traditional media isn’t really covering it in much detail. This may be due to the fact that he ruthlessly tears the President and the press a new one. You can tell from some of the uncomfortable laughs from his audience that a lot of his presentation cut a little too close to home for them. But the important thing is, continuing the tradition of the Daily Show and the Colbert Report he did not relent and he said the things that the traditional media should have been saying all along.

You can watch the movie here or you can download a high quality video of the whole dinner via BitTorrent.

You owe it to yourself to watch this. I concur with Dan that this is an example of a comedian providing the real journalistic traits this country needs in its media.

Check it out.

UPDATE: When you’ve seen the video, and if you feel the way I do, join the crowd thanking Mr. Colbert.

PSA: Danger of Cinnamon Rolls

Posted on Wednesday, April 19, 2006 @ 00:10 CDT by Daniel Andrlik

Just so you all know, it is extremely difficult to eat a cinnamon roll and look professional at the same time. You either pick it apart and end up with frosting all over your fingers, or you attempt to bite the roll whole leaving you looking like some sort of manchild with a face smeared with sugary paste.

Cinnamon roll! Cinnamon roll! Me likey the sweet roll!”

It’s actually pretty embarrassing.

That is all.
