The Twisted Geometries Of The Old Ones Have Found A Loving Home

Posted on Wednesday, August 17, 2005 @ 15:02 CDT by Daniel Andrlik

Oh God.

I have seen the face of evil. I was just reading through dude.man.phat. and I came across the image of a horrific beast. Seriously, I think this is some alien minion of the Old Ones. At any moment the walls will begin to twist, and bugs will begin crawling out of the dogs mouth even as the tentacled creature it summons from another dimension begins to consume the world utterly.

Witness the birth of a monster.

Robot Kitty

Posted on Monday, August 15, 2005 @ 18:06 CDT by Daniel Andrlik

I found this link through Boing Boing about a man whose cat lost the use of his rear legs in a traffic accident. The owner’s solution: build a robotic platform and teach the cat to drive it around the house.

Watch a little video about it here.

Thanks to Todd for pointing out the Boing Boing follow up indicating this one is a hoax as well. At least I wasn’t the only one to fall for it this time. Cory Doctorow was taken in too! The video is still pretty cute though.

“The Horror, The Horror”

Posted on Sunday, August 14, 2005 @ 22:55 CDT by Daniel Andrlik

I’m working on a book review right now, but to tide you over in the meantime I am posting a link to an oldie, but a goodie. It has actually been around the net long enough that I have no idea who to attribute it to. If you know who made this please let me know so I can give them credit rather than linking to someone else who is just using it like me.

If you have not seen this before I will warn you that by clicking on the link you may very well lose your mind. Prepare for danger.

I know what Kurtz was talking about and if you click this so will you.

Can Someone Confirm This?

Posted on Saturday, August 13, 2005 @ 20:30 CDT by Daniel Andrlik

Okay, I was just directed to a site indicating that Christopher Walken is running for president in 2008. Can anyone confirm or deny this for me? It could be a joke, but I have yet to find any humor in the site that would indicate otherwise. Is it bull, or is the so-called blogosphere (god how I hate that term) ahead of everyone on this?

Check out the site and let me know.

UPDATE: We have our final answer. Christopher Walken’s publicists have stated that this campaign is false. Thanks to my friend Paul for pointing me to this site, which is really handy for debunking urban myths.

Miss Scarlet In The Library With An iPod

Posted on Friday, August 12, 2005 @ 22:07 CDT by Daniel Andrlik

Well, it has finally happened, someone has used their iPod to kill someone else in a domestic dispute. Apparently, the woman in question killed her boyfriend after he deleted the contents of her MP3 player. The extra funny bit about this particular news ariticle is the add for iPod embedded in the article.

This woman really loves her music.

UPDATE: This is a hoax, and I totally went for it because it was funny. Yeah, I’m an idiot.

Profitable Business Partnerships

Posted on Wednesday, July 27, 2005 @ 13:00 CDT by Daniel Andrlik

Many years ago, I was driving through the suburbs of Chicago with my girlfriend at the time and I saw what had to be a very profitable arrangement. Driving down the road I noticed a retirement home coming up on my right. Now, I always find retirement homes depressing anyway, but this one was particularly bad in that it was directly across the street from a funeral home.

I tried to imagine what it would be like to live in a place like that. First of all to be placed inside of a retirement home away from your family and independence, and then to look out the window everyday and see exactly where you are going. To be aging, lonely and constantly aware of death.

And then one day you notice that not only is the funeral home across the street, it is also downhill and you never want to go for a ride in your wheelchair again.
