A couple nights ago I went to see Howl's Moving Castle after work. I am lucky enough that Madison has elected to show the subtitled version with the original Japanese cast as opposed to Disney's dub-work.

It was hot and miserable on the road at work today. I set up detours, dealt with summer school kids and was still somehow bored the entire time. I didn’t even have the energy left to watch all of Princess Mononoke (which I bought on DVD today), and that is sad.

I bet you never thought this would happen in your neighborhood.

I found this game through Boing Boing and it is pretty creepy. I only scored 5/10 which shows what I know. Go see if you can do better!

If you have not done so yet, do yourself a favor and pick up the new White Stripes album, Get Behind Me Satan. It is wonderful and I have been seriously digging on it for the last few weeks.

It is hot and humid and I hate it. I would give anything to get rid of this heat. I do not enjoy the extreme seasons of winter and summer, and we have more than two months left of the latter.

It is nice to see a lawmaker with the consumers of digital media forefront in his mind, rather than the entertainment industry’s lawyers and lobbyists. Read about it in Wired here.

Last night I attended the midnight showing of Batman Begins. All I have to say is: Holy shit! That movie had everything I ever wanted in a Batman movie, and effectively managed it all.

So one of the coolest things my dad got me for my birthday was a new computer desk to replace the cunningly stacked boxes that I have been using the last few weeks.

For those of you interested in the Diplomacy game server I am working on, I have made some real serious progress in the last couple days. I think the database schema is close to being done, and I am pretty proud of what I have come up with so far.

I am trying to post daily here, but I have a bit of a headache so my more substantial postings will have to wait. In the meantime, I highly recommed you read the online comic strip Sluggy Freelance.

Today at work a drunk crazy guy threatened to beat me up. It was unnerving as I am sure you can imagine. What was most unsettling about the whole thing was my reaction to it.

I am working on a more substantial post coming up soon, but it probably will not be ready until sometime tomorrow. In the meantime, if you have never listened to it before, pick up “The Boatman’s Call” by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds.

I just came across this article at Wired.com. Apparently they are building these little toy helicopters for military surveillance. These baby choppers utilize a hive mind for distributed computing and function as a swarm toward that end.

Today, I was patrolling the transfer point again and I got ensnared in a conversation with one of the riders, who was quite clearly not right in the head. At first, he was just going on about the problems we had been having down at that area and how he gets angry at the kids for being so stupid.

Today at work I had to have a couple kids arrested. I was supervising a transfer point for my transit agency and two young girls began shouting at each other over something stupid.
