Daniel Andrlik
Author
Daniel Andrlik lives in the suburbs of Philadelphia. By day he manages product teams. The rest of the time he is a podcast host and producer, writer of speculative fiction, a rabid reader, and a programmer.

I realize it’s actually Tuesday, but it’s been a while since I’ve done one of these weeknotes, so here we go!

Over the course of the last week:

  • Finished watching Brand New Cherry Flavor on Netflix, which was an outstanding horror miniseries.

  • Watched The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl In The Window, a playful comic parody of those types of “troubled woman witnesses a murder, or did she” stories.

  • Took my daughter trick-or-treating for Halloween. In the rain. We got soaked, but she still had fun.

  • Updated django-quotes to be compatible with Python 3.11. Most of this work had to do with the dependencies related to the language processing for Markov sentences.

  • Created an interactive TUI version of my CLI podcast production workflow manager. It’s a rather simple tool that automates some parts of our team’s Asana workflow, but it was a fun exercise in learning Textual.

  • I appeared in the Ten Candles Halloween special of Aboard the Opal Star, which was good fun. You can listen to that episode here.

  • And on the Explorers Wanted side of things, the “Night’s Hope” dice set that we designed with the fine folks at Die Hard Dice was announced! It will be available for sale Friday, November 4, 2022.

This week has been both incredibly busy, but also frustrating vague on things I can share. It doesn’t help that I’ve had a cold kicking my ass for the last few days.

This week in the world of Daniel: I updated my quote service project to use my reusable django-quotes app. This should make maintenance easier. Since this is a backwards-incompatible change, I also updated ewdiscordbot and ewtwitterbot to use the new API endpoints.
