This morning, Madison was under a Severe Weather Advisory for “stagnant air” of all things. I had never heard of this condition, but I became very familiar with it while I was out running errands this morning. For those of you not in the know, stagnant air is when, for whatever reason, the air circulation in a particular geographical area gets particularly bad and has a high concentration of particles in the air. It is not as oppressive as the humidity of Iowa, but the air feels more dead somehow, which I found unsettling and uncomfortable.

God, we need a strong thunderstorm. Like the ones my friends and I used to watch stomping over the plains, or the ones my family and I would watch roll in off the Atlantic down in the Keys.
