Okay, I just broke an oath I swore to myself that I would never use song lyrics in a blog post, and I promise to never do it again. I have good reason this time though.

I just got back from the midnight showing of Serenity, and it kicked my ass. I really really enjoyed it. I was a bit worried going into it, and I hope that the emotional impact of the film is as significant for those who haven’t seen the series, but I think it turned into a great sci-fi flick.

I have been eagerly waiting the publication of Anansi Boys ever since I read about it over a year ago on Neil Gaiman’s blog. So it was with a great deal of excitement, that I brought home my copy today.

I should preface this review by saying that I really really wanted to hate this movie. It had all the makings of a potential Hollywood raunch-fest, with a one-joke script. Originally I was not going to see it.

I just finished watching Elizabeth again. God, I love this movie. Seriously, it is one of my favorite movies, but I often forget about it, so it’s a special treat when I pull the DVD down off the shelf and pop it in again.

Elizabeth Kostova’s debut novel, The Historian is a scholarly thriller set in Cold War Europe. It is the tale of several academics who become obsessed with the legend of Vlad the Impaler after having mysterious volumes delivered to them containing only a detailed illustration of a enormous dragon within.

I just got home from seeing The Island. Official Verdict: Meh. This was a mediocre action movie at best, with the potential for an interesting storyline, but the screenplay and directing strangles the concept.

It’s true. I see an open source application and I get all excited. Hey, baby! You want to come play with me for a while??? Oh, it gets me hot!

A couple nights ago I went to see Howl's Moving Castle after work. I am lucky enough that Madison has elected to show the subtitled version with the original Japanese cast as opposed to Disney's dub-work.

If you have not done so yet, do yourself a favor and pick up the new White Stripes album, Get Behind Me Satan. It is wonderful and I have been seriously digging on it for the last few weeks.

Last night I attended the midnight showing of Batman Begins. All I have to say is: Holy shit! That movie had everything I ever wanted in a Batman movie, and effectively managed it all.

I am trying to post daily here, but I have a bit of a headache so my more substantial postings will have to wait. In the meantime, I highly recommed you read the online comic strip Sluggy Freelance.

Today on a whim I picked up the DVD of Return to Oz. If you are not familiar with this film, it was based off of the next two books in the Oz series after the Wizard of Oz.
